Geography Terms
Below are the geography terms that we have covered in the mapping section of the geography unit.
Plan- drawing of what you would see looking down from the ceiling.
Scale- the ratio of the distance on a map to the real distance
Aerial photo- a photo taken form the air
As the crow flies- the straight line distance between two places
Sketch map- a simple/ rough map to do a job
OS (Ordnance Survey maps)- maps of places that are to scale and give a lot of detail
Contour Lines- line on a map joining places that are the same height above sea level
